JOB SUMMARY

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is the principal advisor to the Under Secretary and Director on the application of information technology (IT) to support and improve the Agency's business processes. This position is established to provide operational oversight and implementation of process and strategies that support the marketing of the vision, goals, and mission established by the OCIO.

HelpDuties The physical worksite for this position is located in Alexandria, Virginia]. However, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is currently under a maximum telework posture due to the COVID-19 pandemic; therefore, this position is currently under a 100 percent telework schedule. As of May 25, 2022, USPTO will enter phase 3. This position will be eligible for Remote Telework(within 50 mile straight line distance of USPTO Alexandria, VA headquarters) This position is eligible for the selectee's preference of either:

  • Telework up to 5 days per week with a reporting requirement of not less than 15 minutes twice per bi-week to USPTO's Alexandria, VA headquarters. (hoteling) and the duty station is the USPTO's Alexandria VA HQ.

  • Or, fully remote within 50 miles of the USPTO Alexandria, VA headquarters and the duty station is the authorized telework location (typically your home address)
