Social Media Associate | Get paid $25 - $28/hr

The Social Media Associate is an important member of our communications team. With a focus on the vibrant social change youth movement, they will assist in growing and maintaining Farm Sanctuary’s audience, deepening engagement across all social platforms, and seeking new ways of building and connecting with audiences, while promoting our mission of just, compassionate, and sustainable living.
Responsibilities:
Youth community engagement
Identify and maintain a list of mission-aligned social creators who would be appropriate to engage and collaborate with
Stay up-to-date on social media platforms and trends popular among youth and recommend ways to implement
Collaborate with Social Media Manager and Education & Advocacy on building and maintaining a youth audience
Content planning & curation
Mine Farm Sanctuary blog posts for engaging stories to use for social posts
Search through a wide variety of sources (internal photo albums, tagged Instagram posts, video archives) and flag shareable photo and video content
Search Farm Sanctuary’s website and other internet sources for quotes, facts and stats to be used in social graphics and infographics
Do a daily scan of news in the animal protection space, plus mission-aligned sustainability and social justice news; collect relevant articles for social sharing
Scan existing social calendar for relevant holidays and animal rescue anniversaries that should be covered on our social platforms
Publishing
Write drafts of captions for daily posts across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and TikTok
Use Sprout Social, schedule daily posts across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and TikTok
Create and manage Facebook event pages for Farm Sanctuary events
Create and manage social content for the Farm Sanctuary shop and merchandise
Community management
Monitor social media comments and inboxes and delete spam
Acknowledge and respond to user comments and questions across all social platforms with pre-approved language, including thanking donors on social fundraisers
Monitor social feeds for mission-aligned posts and creators to like, comment on, or share
Alert the Social Media Manager to questionable or concerning comments
Qualifications:
2-3 years of relevant work, volunteer, or intern experience
Strong understanding of social platforms, especially Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok
Experience with social publishing platforms such as Sprout Social
Detail-oriented with strong writing and communication skills
Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines while effectively managing multiple projects with creativity and flexibility
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
An interest in emerging social media platforms
Basic image/video editing and graphic design skills, or the desire to learn
Familiarity and commitment to equity, social justice, and Farm Sanctuary’s mission
Job Specifications:
This is a full-time, exempt position.
This position is based remotely. Pacific time zone preferred.
The salary range is $49,000-55,000, commensurate with experience.
Some weekends and event coverage required.
