OVERVIEW The Customer Operations Specialist manages select operational components of one or more General Mills customers, acting as the point of contact for all service matters related to the customer. The Customer Operations Specialist is responsible for three major facets of customer operational activity:

  1. Order management

  2. Service issue resolution

  3. Supply Chain efficiencies

The Customer Operations Specialist role works closely with the General Mills Field Sales & Logistics teams, along with key customer contacts to ensure accuracy and ease of transactions, while continually improving process efficacy.  KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Receive and process customer orders, ensuring that orders filed meet General Mills policies

  • Manage and resolve service issues; identify and deliver solutions that best meets both General Mills’ and the customer’s needs

  • Work closely with the Customer Operations & Field Sales team, Customer Shipping Facilities, and customer to execute merchandising events

  • Communicate with General Mills Field Sales and Trade teams to ensure accurate invoiced pricing

  • Identify and analyze business opportunities to maximize efficiencies and enhance General Mills’ relationship with the customer


  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Strong communication skills

  • Highly self-motivated

  • Ability to think proactively and to make decisions independently

  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and demands in a fast-paced work environment

  • Strong teamwork skills including cross functional collaboration

  • Ability to develop and sustain long-term business relationships


  • Ability to identify and execute process improvement opportunities

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, etc.); experience with SAP


  • The preferred location for this role is Minneapolis, MN however remote work-at-home applications within the United States will be considered.

  • Relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.

  • Ideal candidates would be in role for 18 months

Salary Range The salary range for this position is $48000.00 - $66100.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifictions, etc. As such, pay for the succesful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
