With Carnegie Mellon Pre-College Programs, we continue to work to recruit and provide opportunities to students from diverse backgrounds. Carnegie Mellon Pre-College Program is hiring a part-time application reader for the Summer Academy for Math and Sciences (SAMS) during the spring of 2023 (typically February to end of March). Trainings and weekly meeting attendance are expected. The reader will thoroughly and holistically evaluate application materials, helping to enroll an academically and artistically qualified, diverse Pre-College SAMS cohort. The reader will also complete assigned readings/articles/materials to ensure adequate knowledge of current and historical admission/higher education information. The reader will work approximately 25-29 hours per week and will have a flexible schedule. Selected candidate needs to be available by February 13. Bachelor's degree required
1-3 years prior admission/recruiting and/or secondary education experience required
Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and organizational skills
Proficient with technology OR technology user
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to attend weekly staff meetings
Preferred Qualifications:
Advising or work with a community-based organization advancing education and career opportunities
Experience advocating for students from historically underrepresented backgrounds
