Summary As a Researcher Editor/Writer on our editorial team, you will edit research reports on individual equities and investing themes produced by a team of equity analysts for a global institutional investing audience. Your primary responsibilities will be correcting for grammar and improving readability but also fact-checking and proofreading the final client-facing report.
Experience editing for a financial services company is desirable but not required. Foremost, we are looking for your ability to improve the structure of paragraphs, clarify points, and ensure the logical flow of information. You will also be responsible for moving reports through the publishing process as quickly as possible to ensure timely publication. Your ability to communicate productively with equity analysts and other members of the editorial team is crucial to the role.
Copy editing and proofreading are also part of the research editor’s duties, as we do not have a separate position for that role. Please note any experience you have in those particular skills.
Working as part of the Creative Services Department, you will also have the opportunity to contribute as a copywriter to support our internal Creative Services team, including email direct marketing, site copy, landing pages, print, and digital ads, and social media. Please note any writing experience that answers those needs, along with your editing background.
The Research Editor/Writer may be required to complete an editorial exercise to determine aptitude for the work.
Duties and Responsibilities
Edit collaboratively to ensure the quality of our research as well consistency of brand voice
Work on deadline to maintain our editorial schedule
Contribute to the Style Guide and provide editorial guidance to junior editors and our offshore analyst team
Edit/proofread a variety of client-facing reports and emails, website content, user-interface messaging, and print and digital advertisements
Write content that is consistent in style and brand voice for email campaigns, site and landing page copy, advertising, social media platforms, and industry events
Work closely with a global team of analysts and designers in different offices/time zones to improve the quality of content and ensure consistent branding
Distribute research content, including via email as well as third-party aggregators such as Blue Matrix
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required, Master’s degree preferred
Minimum editorial experience of five (5) years, preferably seven (7)
A demonstrable understanding of editorial processes; ability to operate a content management system (CMS) system a plus
Proficient in computer programs like Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Experience with WordPress is a plus
Top-notch editing skills with an ability to adapt to various styles of writing and editing
Disciplined ability to deliver content in a timely manner that hits weekly targets
Must have excellent communication skills and be a team player
Be creative with attention to detail
Working Conditions Must be able to perform essential job duties. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each workday), hear the telephone, and enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
